Structural composition and integrity of structures

The supervisor shall ensure they familiarise themselves with the composition and structural integrity of the structure, if necessary an engineer shall be consulted. If structural drawings are available for the building this will provide information.

Once the composition is identified the integrity of the structural members shall be verified, again an engineer shall be considered if workers may be exposed to the possibility of serious bodily injury. Where no workers are to enter the building there is less of a requirement to identify this process unless there is potential for damage to the environment or adjoining property.

It may be advisable to obtain advice from a structural engineer regarding the structural integrity of the buildings.
