Prepare for Asbestos Removal

Obtain work instructions and participate in review of asbestos removal control plan (ARCP) and safe work method statements (SWMS).
Gather safety requirements and data from an on-site assessment and asbestos register where available.
Use information sources to ensure the ARCP and SWMS are site-specific for the removal of asbestos materials.
Select tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE) consistent with job requirements to carry out tasks, check for serviceability, and rectify or report faults prior to commencement.

Prepare Asbestos Removal Site

A designated decontamination area shall be established. A risk assessment shall be conducted to determine the type of decontamination area required. For smaller jobs set up as per the video

A decontamination unit, if required, should be available at all times during removal for personnel to decontaminate as required. The decontamination unit is to be inside the roped off work area

Set up and test a decontamination chamber including locating, assembling, and
connecting to services.
