The Building Regulations 2006 (The Regulations) are derived from the Act and contain, among other things, the requirements relating to:
• Building Permits
• Building Inspections
• Occupancy Permits
• Enforcement of the Regulations
• Maintenance of Buildings
The Regulations adopt the Building Code of Australia as a technical reference that must be complied with.
In Queensland, the current laws and regulations are:
• Building Act 1975 – Queensland’s building legislation
• Building Regulation 2006 – building regulations related to the Queensland Building Act 1975
And current codes and standards:
• Queensland Development Code – Queensland’s building standards framework which extends the scope of the Building Code of Australia
• Building Certification System in Queensland
• Termite Management Standards – background and changes to the termite management systems laws under the Building Code of Australia
The Queensland Development Code consolidates Queensland-specific building standards into a single document. The code covers Queensland matters outside the scope of, and in addition to, the Building Code of Australia, such as requirements for private health facilities.
