Park the Machine
Park-up procedures are done while the engine is operating.
They include:
• Stopping the Machine on flat level surface in the designated area and keeping the access points clear. The Machine must always be parked away from site hazards and danger area. If you must park on a slope, then make sure the machine is facing up the incline.
• Locks and brakes are applied.
• Attachments are moved into the shut-down position. This could include lowering the bucket or making the attachments safe in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.
All vehicles must be left or secured in the way outlined in the site procedures. This could include moving the vehicle to a security area.
Do not park the Machine:
• In front of access points.
• Next to drainage areas.
• Near refuelling areas.
• Close to structures such as buildings, fences, bridges.
• In or across pedestrian or personnel areas.
• Near first aid stations.
• Near firefighting/electrical equipment or fire hazards.
• On a sloping surface.
• Near overhangs.
• Where it is obstructing other traffic.
• Next to train tracks.
• Near excavations or trenches (the weight of the excavator could cause the excavation to cave in particularly if the ground is affected by rain).
• Near tidal and flood areas.
• Near doorways or emergency entrances or exits.
If the Machine must be parked protruding onto an access way make sure there are lights and signs set up to warn others.
